Summary

Last month, our product team hosted our bi-annual European Product Advisory Group (PAG) sessions, gathering 40+ enterprise clients for a week of discussions, workshops, and insights in 4 European cities: Paris, Berlin, Madrid, and London.

In this article, we go over what the events were about and highlight some of the most interesting takeaways from these conversations, revealing insights into the state of the data privacy industry and the future of our product offering.

What is a Product Advisory Group, and why did we start organizing them?

Product Advisory Groups (PAGs), also called customer advisory groups/boards, are exclusive, invitation-only events where we gather customers, partners, and industry experts for a day of discussions, presentations, and feedback sharing.

The goal of these regional events is to foster open conversations about industry challenges, market shifts, and product strategy, creating a two-way collaboration that will shape our product and business decisions for the next few months:

  • ‍Participating customers get to connect with peers and meet the Didomi leadership in person, share their requirements and feature wishlist, get an exclusive look at our roadmap, and most importantly, influence it with their feedback, perspective, and insights.‍
  • Our Didomi team gets the opportunity to collect direct input from some of our customers on their requirements, their vision for the future, and the pain points we can help solve with our solutions.

The conversations that took place are confidential for the most part, but we identified some key topics that resonated with participants across Europe this year, which you should be aware of as you embark on the second quarter of 2026.

Insights and takeaways from our 2026 PAG sessions

While significantly different depending on the market, participants, and specific focus, some trends have emerged from our PAG conversations.

Server-side tagging is a hot topic for leading organizations

Server-side tagging is one of the privacy topics drawing attention from some of the more technical profiles in the room.

As enterprises focus on improving marketing and advertising results through data quality and quantity, server-side tagging delivers better ROI and stronger governance, while products like Addingwell by Didomi provide the visibility teams need to commit to collecting specific data server-side.

[The way this product is evolving] will make me the happiest man in the world.

Discussions focusing on real requirements and current concerns are ensuring that our roadmap for the next semester is as efficient and impactful as possible. Learn more about server-side tagging by exploring real-life, practical customer stories:

The European Commission Digital Omnibus remains top of mind in Europe

Discussions about the future of consent management in Europe often came back to the Digital Omnibus. Concern about revenue streams and compliance complicates planning for the future.

Clients were reassured by the role Didomi takes in policy recommendations, as well as open discussions about possible future management.

We're very concerned at the impact this can have on publishers, and it's encouraging to know that Didomi has joined other CMPs to present an industry view to the European Commission. The exceptions for publishers are limited, and the proposed options introduce significant complexity we're not sure how to handle.

The Digital Omnibus has been identified as a key topic for 2026 by our panel of experts, but understanding the full picture surround the project can be dauting. Visit our breakdown to understand who are the various parties involved, and their opinions on the simplification project:

Compliance monitoring is a top-of-mind priority

Some of the strongest feature requests related to compliance monitoring are not only to extend monitoring to additional conditions, platforms, and complex user scenarios, but also to enable the use of data obtained through compliance monitoring for additional purposes.

I didn't know how much Didomi pays attention to working groups and regulation changes. It's good to know we work with a company that understands how the industry works.

CTV is an increasingly important channel for advertisers

Customers are satisfied with the current offer and enthusiastic about the results this channel has brought so far. The newness of some of the deployments for certain clients underscores the growth of this channel in 2026:

CTV is a new channel for us, but we really believe it's the future.

As a CMP provider certified for CTV by Google, we have worked extensively exploring the topic with specific use cases, partnering with trusted players in the space, and developing our CTV offering. Watch our recent webinar on recent U.S. enforcement to learn more:

International European brands are keeping an eye on changes to the US privacy landscape

European publishers with English-language audiences are attentive to US events that have affected privacy practices beyond their borders. In particular, they expressed interest towards U.S. state laws that came into effect earlier this year and their inclusion of browser signals like Global Privacy Control (GPC).

Among the points of attentions in the U.S., two other highlights include reactions to CIPA litigation, and a need to treat evolving US practices in a dedicated, US-specific manner (not just applying mechanisms built for GDPR). Learn more about the choices availbale for oganizations:

The conversation around AI revolves mostly around practical productivity and quality-of-life optimization

Last but certainly not least, much of the conversation focused on AI and its potential for organizations. AI mentions were present in almost every discussion, regardless of the topic at hand.

However, it was interesting to observe that the most prevalent topics discussed were not necessarily around the future of our industry as it’s reshaped by AI, but rather about the concrete, practical applications and use cases that could simplify daily tasks, including personalization, standard settings, and automation.

If we had to choose between the use cases we've discussed… I really wish we could have all of them.

- PAG participant, leading regional publisher

Despite enthusiasm for what AI can do, there was also skepticism from some of the more data-minded profiles, arguing that the technology is not ready for deep dives and data-based decision-making:

I'd need to see the data behind the [AI] reports.

- PAG participant, international publisher

The belief that data quality is paramount to aI readiness was recently echoed by Romain Baert, co-founder of Addingwell and Managing Director, Server-Side at Didomi, in an opinion piece. Read it here.

Didomi European PAG 2026: Conclusion and what’s next?

Across all four cities, the single most consistent piece of feedback was the value of being in the room together. Privacy professionals deeply appreciated the opportunity to discuss challenges, share experiences, and problem-solve with peers who truly understand their field.

For our part, these sessions reinforced what we strive to be a genuine strategical partner for our clients, building the right features, helping privacy teams evangelize their work internally, and showing up at the regulatory and policy level to represent the industry's interests where it counts.

We leave these sessions with stronger alignment on our roadmap and renewed confidence that we're building in the right direction, and look forward to carrying this momentum into the second half of the year when we will meet our North American clients in the fall for the next PAG. Stay tuned!
