Summary

Dayuse is the pioneering global platform for booking hotels by the day. Present in nearly 28 countries with offices in Paris, Hong Kong, and Canada, the platform generates millions of monthly sessions and operates across its main markets (France, the UK, the US, and Asia). Its web traffic is split roughly 80% mobile, with strong native app adoption in Asian markets.

Ali El Mentoumi, CRO Manager at Dayuse since 2019, oversees both the conversion rate optimization strategy and the entire tracking ecosystem. He explains how Dayuse modernized its consent management and strengthened its tracking with Didomi and Addingwell.

Challenge: Moving from an in-house solution to a scalable, compliant, and secure data ecosystem

Before implementing Didomi and Addingwell, Dayuse faced several major challenges around data protection, compliance, and tracking quality.

Dayuse managed its own cookie banner in-house. With rapid growth across 28 countries with distinct regulations, this homegrown solution quickly became difficult to maintain and evolve. Adding a new third-party tool, adjusting configurations market by market, or keeping up with compliance as regulations changed required a disproportionate amount of effort.

On top of that came the limitations inherent to client-side tracking: ad blockers, browser restrictions, signal loss. Dayuse was only able to collect data for 86% of its users, which hurt the accuracy of its analysis and the steering of acquisition campaigns, particularly on Google Ads.

Finally, Dayuse operates on a commission-based model, where a share of the revenue generated is paid back to partner hotels at a confidential percentage. Until then, this information passed through the client side, making it potentially accessible via the data layer or source code to any knowledgeable user.

We had a very specific problem: we didn't want a malicious user to be able to access the commission percentages in the site's source code. That's where Addingwell gave us a tailor-made solution.

Solution: Combining Didomi and Addingwell for controlled consent and secure server-side tracking

To address its compliance, quality, and business data protection challenges, Dayuse implemented Didomi's Consent Management Platform (CMP), paired with Addingwell's server-side tracking infrastructure.

Didomi: an adaptable, multi-country CMP that's easy to operate

Implementing Didomi allowed Dayuse to replace its in-house solution with a professional, maintained, and scalable CMP. The platform was deployed on both web and mobile app, with configurations tailored by country to closely match local regulations (GDPR in Europe, US-specific requirements, Asia-Pacific).

On the UX side, Dayuse ran A/B tests to identify the banner format best suited to its audience. The team compared a centered pop-up against a bottom banner, then tested different wording for the headlines. The result: the bottom banner proved more favorable to navigation.

The pop-up gave a higher raw consent rate, but it caused more people to leave the site. With the banner, we got fewer immediate opt-ins, but far more actions taken afterward. That's the trade-off we chose.

The ease of use of the Didomi Console was also a deciding factor. Adding or removing a third-party tool, changing a country-specific configuration, or adjusting wording can now be done without any development work. The JS API documentation also makes it possible to handle more complex use cases when needed.

Addingwell: managed, high-performance, tailor-made server-side

Implementing Addingwell was fast and well-structured, with go-live in around two weeks, including server provisioning, infrastructure permissions, and Server-Side GTM integration.

The first priority was configuring GA4 server-side, a prerequisite for then dispatching events to all other analytics tools. Google Ads was the second priority use case, making it possible to steer performance campaigns with more reliable conversion data.

The most distinctive use case remains the protection of commission data. Thanks to custom logic on Addingwell's side, the percentages paid back to hotels are now decrypted and calculated exclusively server-side, then sent to analytics tools without ever passing through the user's browser.

Addingwell's servers have an uptime I believe is 99.999%. It's very high-performing, it works very well, and the teams are available. Nothing to complain about.

Server-Side GTM subdomains were aligned with each Dayuse domain, an essential condition for server-side tracking to work properly and deliver all of its benefits.

Results: +12 points of tracking coverage, ~70% consent, and secured business data

Since implementing Didomi and Addingwell, Dayuse has seen concrete, lasting results across its entire data setup.

On the consent side, the platform now reaches an average rate of ~70%, with configurations adapted to each local regulation across 28 countries. Managing third-party tools has become considerably simpler: adding, removing, and updating them can now be done without any development. The user experience is also more transparent, since all trackers stay disabled until the user has given consent.

The move to server-side, in turn, transformed the quality of tracking. With +12 points of tracking coverage, going from 86% to 98% of users tracked, the data feeding Amplitude, Google Ads, and other marketing tools is now more complete and reliable. Commission information no longer passes through the browser, and the whole setup runs on an infrastructure with 99.999% uptime, with no operational burden for the teams.

Thanks to this combination, Dayuse now has a data ecosystem that is compliant, high-performing, and secure, capable of handling millions of monthly sessions across 28 markets, while guaranteeing the protection of its users' data and the confidentiality of its business data.

Once the system is in place and you have enough history, you're working from the same reference dataset and it just runs on its own. The data is richer, more reliable, and we can steer things far more effectively.
