What does being Global Lead - Server-Side entail?
James leads market development for Didomi’s server-side tagging product. Based in the UK, he manages partner relationships, brings on new clients, attends industry events, and helps brands work through the tracking challenges they face.
He brings years of experience in tech to his role, having managed teams, opened new markets, and worked with brands on everything from data collection to campaign performance.
I've managed teams of eight or nine people, and I've also been the first person on the ground in a market, starting from a blank canvas and building everything up from scratch. Previous experiences have shaped how I think about this role.
- James Ensor, Global Lead - Server-Side at Didomi
A significant part of his work is building visibility, as server-side tagging is a technology that many brands are encountering for the first time.
Selling in a market that's still catching up
As third-party cookies continue to lose relevance and platforms like Google and Meta invest heavily in server-side infrastructure, brands that haven't adopted server-side tagging are facing real consequences, including incomplete attribution, degraded signal quality, and increasingly difficult-to-optimize campaigns.
This has made education a central part of James' role. Most brands already have a consent management framework in place, but server-side tagging is a different story, with many teams still getting adjusted to what it actually involves and what they stand to gain from it.

For James, the level of investment from major platforms is a strong signal that this technology is heading in the right direction and makes client conversations easier to have. With Addingwell now part of Didomi's broader offering of privacy-preserving data collection and activation solutions, those conversations come with a stronger story to tell.
Joining through an acquisition and finding a cultural fit
James joined Addingwell before its acquisition by Didomi, when the team was still in the early stages of international expansion. As a result, he has a unique perspective on how the two companies came together, and for him, what made it work came down to the people and how well the cultures aligned.
There's a really good glue. Something I noticed after the acquisition is that everything matches very well. There's a real overlap in terms of personality, in terms of ways of working, the remote policy, the flexibility, the new office in London... It came together better than I expected.

The two companies (along with Sourcepoint, another acquisition from 2025) now operate as a combined entity, and the collective expertise the team brings to clients is one of the clearest upsides of that growth.
The same care for people extends beyond the work itself. James and his main UK-based colleague both became new fathers around the same time, and both were able to take extended leave through a paternity policy that went beyond what he had experienced before.
A colleague of mine, Sam, and I both became fathers this year. Didomi has a very good paternity leave policy, which allowed both of us an extended period of time off. The support when we came back was incredible. I genuinely haven't seen a policy like that at any company I've worked at before.

What's next for James and his team
Addingwell and Didomi have recently released Event Consent Monitoring, a joint feature that combines server-side tagging capabilities and consent expertise into a privacy-first solution that’s unique on the market. For James, this is an encouraging step towards a unified platform the market is looking for:

As server-side tagging becomes essential to how brands collect and act on data, James is at the forefront of those conversations in the UK. Book a time with him to learn more, and check out our open roles if you are interested in joining the team at Didomi.
