What is the IT Act and PDPB?
The IT act (Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 as well as the Sensitive Personal Data or Information are effective as of today. Their primary focus is to provide additional security information for the protection of personal and sensitive data in cyberspace.
The Data Protection Bill is, to this day, a bill that has yet to be passed by Parliament, almost 2 years after its introduction to the Indian Parliament on December 11, 2019. The committee in charge of the file recently obtained a fifth time extension to examine new modifications that were made to said bill. The Data Protection Bill could come into the light of day in the upcoming months and will allow India to equip itself with a comprehensive legislative framework for the protection of Indian citizens’ personal data.
